Louann did the nirahara samyama 5th batch in Oct. 2012 which was comprised of 2 days of liquids, 1 day eating, 7 days liquids, 1 day eating and finally 11 day liquids. We did a special meditation daily with Swamiji on two-way webcam. Only lost 10 pounds as Swamiji taught us how to connect with the prana for energy! Louann had already been on a diet the previous 3 months and had lost 14 pounds. During the samyama Louann exercised more than ever too as the awareness of the energy in the air turbo-charges your body. Figured out the sacred secret around the 10th day: Examine the space in your stomach where you feel the hunger – that is also where the ananda gandha churning is felt. Shifting awareness from empty stomach to ananda gandha space plugs you into Swamiji’s energy then the hunger goes away! Also plugged into that same space when needing a burst of energy while mountain biking and my muscles were turbo-charged! Even my skeptical husband was impressed. Felt so closely connected to Swamiji then as Louann was relying on Swamiji for physical sustenance. Since then eating much lighter than before and am doing liquids once a week. Learned that empty stomach creates a light feeling and only eat when feel weak. Still look forward to that hunger feeling as a reminder to live in the ananda gandha with Swamiji. Mass marketing and family patterns makes us think we have to eat so much. Learn to eat to live rather than live to eat.
